I was born and grew up in Korea. As an undergraduate student, I joinned the Advanced Materials Science and Engineering of Kookmin University in Seoul, Korea. During my junior and senior years at the Advanced Materials Processing and Characterization (AMPC) lab, I took advantage of several research opportunities. In this work, I examined a fracture toughness of ceramic electrolyte (LLZO) in Li-ion batteries. I also worked on developing electrode material of solar cells and electroless deposition onto polymer foams. At Northwestern, I will continue to develop and establish the freeze-casting process for nickel foams with potential applications in energy areas. In collaboration with Prof. Ritchie at Berkeley, I will also try to make infiltrated Ni-alumina composites.
